Monthly Theme

Only a few days left to submit for our monthly theme. The theme for the month of May is Springtime. The Admins will choose the best photos by the end of the month to be featured on the front page, so go out and shoot some nice Spring shots and submit them to the dedicated folder before May 31st. Two pieces per member is allowed for the themed months :) If you have already submitted any image, which fits the theme and wasn't submitted to Spring folder, note us or comment here and we will move it to spring folder.

We are now Super group - A big thanks to Brian

Dear members,

Perhaps some of you already noticed it, the :iconphotographyuniverse: is now a super group. This means we can have polls, journals (with different skins) etc on our main page.

This was a generous gift from Brian :icono0oluxo0o: , our co-founder. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Brian and let him know that it was very pleasant surprise when I logged on to DA yesterday.

New Icon for the group

Joining the group

From home page, click on "Join our Group" to send a request to join the group. Please note that your gallery will be reviewed prior to accepting or declining the join request.

Brief information about submission to the group

:bulletblue: All submissions to the group need to be voted before they are given a place in our galleries. Submissions are voted on Focus, Exposure, Composition, Colors, Lighting, Contrast, Extent of digital Noise, White balance, etc. As much as possible we will try to provide a brief reason for decline to the members. Please do not get upset/angry, if your submission is declined as we need to maintain the overall quality of the images in the group.

:bulletblue: The artist/member retains all the Copyright of submitted Artwork. Please submit only your work and respect the copyright of other artists.

:bulletblue: The members are allowed to submit Two (2) images a week (subject to change as the activity level changes). Remember the images must be your own and taken by you only.

:bulletblue: The members can also suggest 3 favorites a week, but they can not be your own work. Self suggested favorites will be declined.

:bulletblue: Image size: We will encourage you to post at least 700px on the longer side. Anything smaller may be declined. Preferred size is 800-900px on the longer side.

:bulletblue: We highly encourage you to leave EXIF information intact in the submissions, but if that is not possible due to any reason, please add camera, lens and exposure information in the description of the image. It helps admins to make decision and also helps other members learn from your image.

:bulletblue: Composites will be accepted, but each case will be reviewed on individual basis.

:bulletblue: HDR, Exposure blending, Focus stacking, Panoramas and Selective coloring is accepted, but resulting image should still meet the quality standards.

:bulletblue: Limit the submission to one (1) or Two (2) from a series. It is easy to get carried away with digital photography and click way too many images of the similar and/or same subject. Avoid submitting similar images and pick the best ones to submit in order to maintain the variety in the gallery. Similar images may be removed from gallery even after acceptance.

:bulletblue: Avoid submitting previouly declined images to the gallery unless major improvements have been made to them. Add a comment with the submission about those improvements to help with the voting process.

:bulletblue: Images taken with cell phone camera will now be accepted, provided it meets other quality guidelines.

The following are NOT accepted at this time (may change in future) :

:bulletblue: Images with big and intrusive watermarks (including the DA watermark) will be declined. We suggest that you use your own signature/name as a watermark, but keep in mind that they should not overpower the image.

:bulletblue: Blurry/out-of-focus/soft images will not be accepted.

:bulletblue: Over processed/heavily manipulated images will not be accepted.

:bulletblue: Nudes, fetish, Digital Art, Mixed Media, Photo Manipulations, Horror/Macabre, religious or political agenda, Obscene and hate related work will NOT be accepted. Any work that is not acceptable to DA will also be declined.

:bulletblue: Images which are of snapshot quality will also be declined.

Once again, I would like to remind all members that "We aim to keep the image quality high in this group, so please submit only your best works. Images that do not meet our submission guidelines will be declined ."
